POSTER: computer news   ||    WE ARE LOOKING AT NOCTUA COOLERS FOR AMD RYZEN THREADRIPPER

DATE:2017-08-25

Noctua company has released for the Ryzen Threadripper processors special models of coolers, with an increased base area.  Colleagues from the site AKIBA PC Hotline found in Japanese retail three new processor coolers Noctua for processors in the performance of Socket TR4, and decided to acquaint the public with the visual features of new products.  First, the package flaunts a notice that the buyer holds a "specially adapted" version of the cooler for the processors in the performance of Socket TR4 / SP3.

Secondly, in the photo on the left you can estimate the area of the cooler base, which has grown for the sake of optimal heat dissipation from the AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors.

Finally, colleagues caught the eye and fixings for the coolers Noctua NH-L9a and NH-L9i, which provide compatibility with the socket socket AM4.  Such concern for the owners of products purchased some time ago is encouraging, even if the mounting adapters have to buy at their own expense.

POSTER: computer news   ||    THE WATER BLOCK ALLOWED TO OVERCLOCK THE RADEON RX VEGA 64 TO 1745-1095 MHZ

DATE:2017-08-25

The Slovenian enthusiast representing the interests of EK Water Blocks with the ironic pseudonym Liter Vina has recently demonstrated the best result for Radeon RX Vega 64 in 3DMark Time Spy, gaining 8760 points at the frequencies of the video card 1745/1095 MHz.  To achieve them, as one can understand from the "origin" of this overclocker, the water block of EK Water Blocks brand helped.

The central processor Core i7-6950X next door was also cooled by a water block, and limited to a frequency of 4.4 GHz.  This is a completely adequate result for liquid cooling, but we are accustomed to seeing this processor with higher frequencies achieved by cryogenic cooling or phase-transition systems.

POSTER: computer news   ||    IN PURSUIT OF TOSHIBA MEMORY ASSETS, WESTERN DIGITAL CORPORATION IS READY TO GIVE UP VOTING RIGHTS

DATE:2017-08-25

Toshiba Corporation can no longer be capricious in choosing a new owner for its solid-state memory business, as August is coming to an end, and the management of the Japanese company would like to receive antimonopoly approval of different countries until March of next year to complete the transaction legally until the end of another fiscal Period.  Resource Reuters once again told what scenario is now forming the terms of the transaction between Toshiba and Western Digital Corporation.

The investment consortium determines the composition of the participants in such a way that the Japanese structures own at least 60% of the shares of Toshiba Memory.  The INCJ and DBJ funds will become the main investors with the "Japanese residence permit", and a couple of local banks will provide loans for the purchase of Toshiba's assets related to the release of solid state memory.  At the current exchange rate, the deal value is estimated at $ 17.4 billion, and Toshiba itself expects to retain slightly more than 5% of the shares.  On the American side, the investment fund KKR & Co and Western Digital Corporation participate in the transaction, and the latter will pay less than 8% of the shares, and will not claim the right to vote in the management of the Toshiba Memory business.  It is felt that the Japanese continue to defend their interests, even in such a seemingly desperate situation.

POSTER: computer news   ||    IN THE SECOND QUARTER, MINERS BROKE THE SALES STATISTICS OF VIDEO CARDS

DATE:2017-08-25

Analyst company Jon Peddie Research summed up the performance of companies in the market for video cards for PC in the second quarter of 2017.  The statistics obtained are pretty much out of all that has been observed in this market for the last two decades.  Traditionally, in the first quarter, the demand for adapters either decreased slightly or was flat.  In the second quarter, shipments plummeted as sellers and system builders were selling stocks on the eve of the summer months.  In the third quarter warehouses again began to be filled, symbolizing the growth in demand in the autumn months and in the pre-holiday season.

The growth in the supply of discrete video cards, which was observed in the second quarter of this year, according to Jon Peddie Research was due to the crypto currency Ethereum.  A similar leap was already in 2013 after the enthusiasm of the Bitcoin and Litcoin miners.  However, the situation with Ethereum forced the development of the video card market in a different scenario.  Professional Bitcoin miners soon after the popularity of this crypto currency switched from video cards to customized BIS (ASIC).  Then the secondary market was thrown out a lot of video cards, which for a couple of quarters changed the usual course of things in the adapter market.

With Ethereum, this will not happen, analysts are sure.  The algorithms for generating this crypto currency are specially created so that the miners use video cards, rather than special processors.  While there is interest in Bitcoin, there will be interest in Ethereum and other crypto-currencies and, consequently, sales of video cards will grow.  But sooner or later it will end, because Bitcoin has no economic justification.  In any case, for now.

Returning to video cards (graphics processors), observers noted that in the second quarter, GPU shipments consistently grew by 7.2%.  AMD GPU shipments increased 8%, NVIDIA GPU shipments grew 10%, and Intel increased shipments by 6%.  In annual terms, GPU shipments in the second quarter grew by 6.4%: 5% for desktops and 7% for laptops.  In the second quarter, shipments of discrete GPUs for the first time in many years showed better and more positive dynamics than the built-in GPUs.  The first is responsible for the miners, and the second is to blame the PC market decline.

The PC market, according to analysts, in quarterly comparison grew by 0.12%, while in the annual comparison it decreased by 3.98%.  Deliveries of the same discrete graphics cards from the first to the second quarter of 2017 increased by 30.88%.  So, if on the average in the first quarter on each sold PC accounted for 0.09 of the video card, then in the second quarter there were 1.46 for each PC sold.  Besides maynig, experts note, gaming solutions have become a bright spot for the market of discrete graphics cards.  But the market has made, we repeat, the demand for solutions for the production of crypto-currency.
