POSTER: computer news   ||    APPLE REPEATEDLY CHANGED PRIORITIES IN ITS ROBOTIC PROJECT

DATE:2017-08-24

Not so long ago Apple CEO Tim Cook publicly admitted that the company is interested in creating a technology that allows the car to drive without a driver.  Apple,  company until recently did not have an accurate idea of their further actions in this direction.  Contradictions in the team are available now, but the management of Apple at least came to understand that the company does not want to produce cars independently, and prefers to focus on control algorithms.

The project with the code name Titan Apple has been accompanying since 2014, and during this time priorities have been repeatedly changed.  In the early stages, Apple has traditionally tried to control both hardware and software, and therefore attracted experts in the development of automotive components and interior designers.  The latter tried to understand what the "car interface" of the future should look like when a person does not need to touch the controls throughout the trip. Even with regard to the degree of management process automation  , the opinions within the Apple team were divided: some experts believed that a person should not interfere in the management at all, others did not believe that the authorities in the foreseeable future will allow the operation of cars without the steering wheel and pedals.

The so-called "lidar" Apple also tried to make it more organically fit into the exterior of the car - the current prototypes with their rotating cones on the roof are not very elegant.  Since recent attempts to develop the car itself in Apple have ceased, and now the company prefers the development of control systems.  However, this is not without controversy: the operating system CarOS can rely on the common language of C ++, and on the "proprietary" Swift.

As the source summarizes, at present Apple prefers developing control systems using the "chassis" of third-party manufacturers.  In addition to three prototypes based on the Lexus RX 450h, a minibus should appear on California public roads, which can automatically move Apple employees  miles away.  As a basis for the prototype, a finished car of a third-party production will also be taken.

POSTER: computer news   ||    JAPANESE SHOPS RUSHED TO REDUCE PRICES FOR AMD PROCESSORS RYZEN THREADRIPPER

DATE:2017-08-24

Even at the time of the start of sales of AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors, Japanese colleagues noted that many local buyers prefer to buy only motherboards with Socket TR4 socket in this country, and the processors themselves are bought in foreign stores with delivery to Japan, since this is cheaper.

Now the resource AKIBA PC Hotline informs that all Japanese stores began to lower prices for Ryzen Threadripper processors, although only two weeks have passed since the announcement.  Japanese traders are ready to sacrifice part of the profits to attract buyers - the prices for these processors are reduced by approximately 10-12%.

It is difficult to say whether this will help to keep Japanese consumers from being tempted by "cross-border purchases", but the trade networks in some countries would do well to learn concessions from their Japanese counterparts.

POSTER: computer news   ||    WITH THE MEMORY OF SK HYNIX NEW HOPES FOR THE NORMALIZATION OF PRICES FOR RADEON RX VEGA 64

DATE:2017-08-24

While the use of SK Hynix HBM2 memory is attributed only to Radeon RX Vega 56 video cards, although they have not yet appeared on sale.  The reference versions of Radeon RX Vega 64, as far as we can be judged by the data obtained from reliable sources, will be used in the foreseeable future by Samsung memory.

Resource WCCFTech also interviewed "competent well-wishers," and they explained that to conduct the operation to force shops to return prices to Vega to the recommended level, AMD will conduct the address, selecting a couple of dozen major retail chains.  Other, most likely,  will offer Radeon RX Vega 64 for $ 599.  By the way, rumors about the limitations of the first batch of video cards are greatly exaggerated.  According to the source, the problem lies in the logistics: the graphics cards have been released enough, but could not deliver them on time, so within a few days the situation will begin to improve.

But with the coming of the fourth quarter, the memory of HBM2 manufactured by SK Hynix will be used more actively, and this will reduce the prices for video cards - at least, to the recommended level.  By that time there will be video cards of non-standard design, and they too should be cheaper than standard ones.

POSTER: computer news   ||    RYZEN THREADRIPPER TURNED OUT TO BE SO LARGE THAT THE WATERBLOCKS LACK ONE STICKER

DATE:2017-08-24

Manufacturers of cooling systems in some cases were forced to produce new revisions and models  coolers, which had an increased base covering the whole surface of the cover of the heat distributor of the new AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors.  One of the buyers of the waterblock for processors in the performance of Socket TR4 from the pages of Reddit said that the Slovenian company EK Water Blocks is currently forced to use two standard size stickers to protect the sole of the waterblocks instead of one larger one.

Apparently, the manufacturer of water blocks does not yet have large labels for the new model, and it is necessary to ship the products, so the bottom of the water block looks like a bulletin board, which was attacked by the distributors of leaflets.
