In the early nineties of the last century Rambus company is ready to become a member of the  JEDEC, responsible for setting standards in the field of semiconductor solutions.  Rambus soon realized that the committee is not going to take  own technology RDRAM (Rambus DRAM) as an industry standard, and left the organization in 1996, and not with empty hands - the company has patented many promising technologies, access to which has provided its  membership in JEDEC.  Rambus further fate is known to many - the company has ceased to produce memory and turned into a patent troll. Interestingly, almost twenty years later JEDEC decided to ask  Rambus to rejoin the committee to develop a standard, which in the future will replace DDR4.  In February 2013, for example, Rambus DRAM interface showed a frequency of 6.4 GHz, twice the memory capabilities of modern DDR4. Rambus, in particular, has extensive experience with large I / O interfaces, which JEDEC going to pay more attention.  Developer will participate in the next meeting of the committee, which will be held in June.
