The LP architecture ARM Cortex-A9 was replaced by architecture Cortex-A12 .  Core on Cortex-A12 promised to be faster than its predecessor by up to 40%.  Then, in February this year, ARM has introduced a little more advanced core Cortex-A17 , which outpaced the average core Cortex-A9 at 60%. At first glance, the difference in peak performance between cores Cortex-A12 and Cortex-A17 noticeable enough to create a number of independent products.  From a practical point of view, the application processors in core Cortex-A12 and Cortex-A17 are not much different.   In the future, companies will be able to create their development only on Cortex-A17, bearing in mind the younger segment with a 32-bit processor applications.  Included with the Cortex-A17 cores goes GPU Mali-T720.  It is somewhat better than cores Mali-T622, which are recommended to complete the computing core architecture Cortex-A12.  Its development on Cortex-A17 cores already produced by LG company , MediaTek and RockChip.  On Cortex-A12 were only prototypes.
