Researchers at Harvard University found that the emitted light displays blue spectrum has a detrimental effect on biorhythms and well-being if given text reading bedtime hours.
This reduces the light spectrum of melatonin, which promotes sleep. As a result, those who read bedtime texts from the display of electronic devices with backlight, not only worse sleep at night, but are more scattered the following morning. In addition, a person worse resting in sleep, even if sleep duration reaches the "averaged" eight hours. In the experiment, a group of volunteers alternately read for four hours every night text on the iPad and other electronic devices, as well as conventional paper books. During the reading of texts from paper negative influence of illumination on biorhythms were observed. The researchers found that long-term abuse of bedtime reading texts in electronic devices and the consequent reduction of melatonin may increase the risk of cancer.
Most of sleep disorders affecting children and older people, so they should be limited to the duration of the electronic devices in the evening.
