Google's project called Project Loon is designed to ensure high-speed wireless Internet access remote regions. To do this, the company uses large balloons with special equipment that hover in the stratosphere at an altitude of 20 kilometers. In the future, the company wants in such a way to cover all the planet.
Recently, Google has reached an agreement with three major telecommunication companies in Indonesia - Indosat, Telkomsel and XL Axiata, and next year will begin large-scale testing. For Indonesia, the project is important, because at the moment, access to the Internet there is only a third of people in the country, because it is quite difficult to connect in any other way, each of more than 17 000 islands of this country. And one ball Loon project covers an area of up to 40 kilometers in diameter.
The technical part of the project will undergo significant improvements. At the moment, the connection speed can be up to 10 Mbit / s, which is a very good indicator. The first prototypes of the balls could be in the air for only 10 days, and now some balls can be kept more than 180 days. Initially, the launch of a balloon took 2 hours and it required 15 people, now enough for 15 minutes and two persons. Related Products :
