Xiaomi is actively expanding its presence outside of China. Last quarter, the Chinese company has become the second largest smartphone manufacturer in India.
Xiaomi company has announced that in the fourth quarter of 2016 it has become the second largest smartphone vendor in India. This was made possible thanks in part to a series of smartphones Xiaomi Redmi 3S, which six months since its launch has sold over 3 million copies.
The market research firm IDC report says that in the final quarter of last year Xiaomi took second place in the smartphone market in India. Its share was 10.7% versus 3.3% in the same period of 2015. In annual terms, Xiaomi smartphone shipments have tripled.
Recall, Xiaomi has entered the Indian market in 2014. First, the company has become the largest Internet provider in India, and now has become one of the leading players in the market. It recently launched in India smartphone Redmi 3S +, an updated version of the popular Redmi 3S Prime. I must say that almost all smartphone Xiaomi Redmi 3S are manufactured in India.
