Intel has intentions to speed up the announcement of X299 platform, which was previously mentioned under the code name Basin Falls. It was believed that the processor giant will present Intel X299, as well as processors Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X in the performance of LGA 2066 in August this year. However, now the expected timing of the announcement is shifted to the second half of June. In fact, this allows Intel partners to demonstrate samples of motherboards based on the X299
chipset at the Computex 2017, which this year will be held from May 30 to June 3.
The source claims that Intel could decide for such a step out of a desire to keep up with AMD, which is preparing the announcement of the X399 chipset and HEDT class processors with 16 cores . The latter will be able to combine the architecture of Zen and the level of TDP not more than 180 watts. Intel in its aspirations is more modest: the number of Skylake-X cores is unlikely to exceed 10-12 pieces, and the TDP value is 140W. Related Products :
