Formally, DDR4 memory support was provided by hybrid AMD Bristol Ridge processors with Excavator architecture, but since almost no one saw them in the desktop segment, it is considered that for AMD the "DDR4 era countdown" starts from March  this year, when processors were introduced Ryzen 7 with Zen architecture  .  Intel processors for high-performance systems, meanwhile, support for DDR4 was proposed as early as 2014. IC Insights last week updated the outlook on DDR4 expansion rate  , saying that the acceleration of this memory type spread  was more conducive to reducing the price to a level close to DDR3, and not the emergence of a larger assortment of compatible processors.  If last year DDR4 already occupied 45% of the market, then it can take 58%, and this already symbolizes its dominance. Memory type DDR4 and its derived forms are used in laptops, PCs, server equipment, smartphones and tablets.  The price of RAM, according to the authors of the study, will continue to grow until the middle of this year, but not at the same pace as in the period from February to April.  The increase in the volume of memory production should, at a minimum, halt the rise in prices in the second half of the year, and ideally - start a new cycle of price reduction.
