The universal fastenings system allow cooler buyer to not worry about the transfer to another motherboard or socket .
Scythe company on this week declared about the release of two new cooler version katana 3 known with the suffixes type A and I, which indicates the platform destination AMD and Intel, respectively.  If the cooler katana 3 type A is supplied only with fastenings for socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM3/AM2+, then katana 3 type is equipped only with fastenings for LGA 775/1156/1366. Other characteristics remained as before. The cooler has the sizes 94 X 108 X 143 mm, weight 495 grams ; it is equipped with standard size fan 92 mm, which rotate with 300 to 2500 rp/min , creating the noise level not more than 31.07 dB and ensuring the air flow up to 95 cu. m/h (55.55 cu. feet/min). The fan rotation speed changes automatically (PWM).  The introduction of similar updates allowed to reduce the cost of cooler by $4.
