A group of General Electric researchers demonstrated a material that supports the recording speed comparable to Blu-ray disc. This disc of standard size can accommodate the contents of up to 20 or 100 BD DVD discs. This technology is one of the most likely candidates for future optical media .  The key points to start the commercialization of this technology are two parameters - the data density and velocity. Density already brought up to 500 gigabytes per disk, and in the long term may be extended three times more. The problem was raising the recording speed , and it was successfully solved by GE specialists. The demonstrated material is a hundred times more sensitive than its predecessor.
