British holding company ARM published a report in the first quarter 2012. The company, whose products are used in most modern smart phones and many other kinds of electronics, has once again noted the positive dynamics of growth and profits.
So, in the first quarter, revenue was $ 209.4 million, up 13% more than the same period last year ($ 185.5 million). Profit before tax increased by 22% compared to Q1 2011, reaching 61.9 million pounds sterling.
Positive results were largely due to royalties for the use of ARM technology, which must be paid to producers of processors for smartphones and tablets.
The report mentions that the number of shipped processors with ARM architecture for tablets and smartphones in the first quarter of 2012 remained at the level of last year and amounts to 1.1 billion pieces. Meanwhile, the demand for solutions for other electronic devices rose by 15%, while the number of processors shipped reached 800 million copies.
