Well today we decided to take one of those cheap high capacity battery for samsung galaxy S3 smart phone . The original galaxy S3 smartphone come with a 2100 Mah battery , it is good enough  and designed to handle the large screen with million of pixel and the high end quad core processor . But what is the solution if this battery is not enough , looking at few ebay proposal we found this cheap battery :  4800mAh Extended Battery Door Cover for Samsung Galaxy S3 S III S 3 i9300 White. 100% brand new,high quality this extended battery will always keep your Smartphone powered up and ready and it includes a Battery Cover!   4800mAh will make your phone power keep longer without a charge.   Provides maximum power to your cellphone when you are in travel. The cover made of Plastic   Voltage:3.7V DC   Capacity:4800mAh   Door Cover Color:White Specifically for the Samsung Galaxy S3 SIII i9300 The proposal sound very good considering that the stated capacity is over the double of stock samsung (2100 vs 4800) and mainly the price which less than 10$ shipped . Now lets look to the battery itself : Chinese extended battery front Chinese extended battery back side Samsung original and Chinese extended battery side by side The Chinese battery size is the double of original samsung one . Samsung original and Chinese extended back cover side by side Samsung original vs Chinese extended back cover thickness That was the reason for the new back cover , which provide more room for the battery . Wondering how the final product look , check the next photo : I wouldn't call it very bad , but the galaxy S3 can't be definitely considered and the thinnest smart phone in the market : -) .it is now about 13.6mm . the weight also increased considerably due to the bigger battery . Now let's start , when we got the extended battery it was almost empty . So first to check is the charging time . In this case it is 0.84%/min for samsung original and 0.61%/min for the extended battery. This is pretty decent result of course if the capacity of 4800MAH is confirmed , having over the double capacity the extended battery charging time is only 30% higher than original oem samsung. off course this sound too good to be true from less than 10$ battery . Now let us pass to the battery temperature during stress test , in our day when smartphone have already quad core and screen has over 4 inch it is quite natural to keep the phone cool in order to maintain stable work , lithium-ion battery show their best performance while kept under 30c , 4xc is considered as average zone , 5xc high zone while 60c or above can cause the battery to explode or risk to subsequently lower the battery life , During our stress test we set the monitor to maximum brightness , wifi was connected to network downloading large file , GPS was on , CPU was heavy loaded with some stress test application ... almost one the worst condition that a smartphone can expect , having a room temperature fixed at 25c , here is what we got : The extended battery was 1c cooler during the test , the reason can be the bigger surface area . So far all look good. Now let us pass to the main part of this review , how good is this 4800 MAH capacity . For this we used 2 type of test , first using a multimeter and second charging both battery to 100% and putting same heavy load on both until the phone completely switch off . here is what we observed : All is clear , here we deal about 10-20% higher capacity but not 130% higher as stated from specification , This was confirmed also from our multimeter which showed 2517MHA for the extended battery. Verdict: Is extended battery really required , from my personal opinion yes , if you are a heavy smart phone user or you can stay for a long time without access to electricity a extended battery will double your phone battery life. Is Chinese extended battery good enough to buy , I would say all depend on users need , if you are ok with bigger case for the phone then you can get a spare battery really cheap , most people of course will go with another original battery and save their self from trouble connected with : low quality , big size and mainly less charge cycle .We expect the Chinese extended battery to last from 6 to 1 year max while original version should go strong for 3-5 year . Note : You can take a look to the picture above , the back cover already cracked by the end of review , so do not expect any longevity from it . Pro : 1- Cheap :less than 10$ 2- Offer higher capacity than samsung galaxy s3 original Con 1- big size , require another back cover 2- do not meet specification : rated at 4800 and provide roughly 2500 3- cheap build quality , no warranty.
