Sharp has found a way to distribute all necessary control components on the surface of the screen, which enables to produce LCD panels almost of any arbitrary shape with a minimum thickness of the frame. For example, Sharp showed a prototype automotive information panel with curved cutouts:
The display has an active layer of an oxide of indium, gallium and zinc (IGZO), it provides a low power consumption panel with quality color reproduction and wide viewing angles. Sharp is finishing testing technology and promises to start production of curly screens in the near future.
