Thenew Sharp CEO Ren Wu Tai confirmed rumors that the iPhone 8, which will be equipped with OLED-screen debut in 2017.
In his address to the students of Tatung University, Tai Ren Wu hinted that the next iPhone will receive the OLED-display.
"iPhone has evolved and now he goes on LTPS-display (low-temperature Polysilicon Technology) to OLED-panels.-. said the head of Sharp.
He added that Sharp is building a new factory for production of OLED-panels in Japan, and the company does not rule out that can produce OLED-panels in the United States. Until the second quarter of 2018 Sharp plans to invest $ 568 million in OLED-business.
"If our key customers require us to produce OLED-panels in the United States, we can do it?" - Said Wu Tai Ren.
According to industry sources, in the next year Apple will release a brand new iPhone with 8 curved OLED-display in a glass case. As potential suppliers OLED-panels for the new iPhone is called Sharp and Samsung. In early October, it was reported that Apple is in talks with Sharp for the supply of OLED-displays.
Recall this summer Taiwanese giant Hon Hai Precision Industry, better known as Foxconn, acquired two-thirds of Sharp shares .
