Modern technologies for the production of consumer goods are changing business models that have evolved over hundreds of years. For example, the technology of three-dimensional printing allows in a short time to produce on an individual order not only accessories, but also sports shoes. At least, Adidas said about this opportunity last year. Now this brand, as explained by Reuters , has launched a service in Germany to produce wool sweaters for individual orders. In just four
hours, the client can choose the coloring, design, give his semi-naked body for taking measurements with a laser scanner, and get a washed and dried ready-made product that will definitely fit in size and taste.
First, in a darkened room, a virtual fitting of colors and design elements takes place: the computer projects templates onto the upper part of the client's torso. Then the person in the underwear turns into a special chamber, where the measuring complex with the help of the laser removes exact measurements.
Adidas using these technologies hopes to significantly reduce the time it takes to develop the design of garments and their subsequent release. Usually it takes from one to one and a half years to prepare a collection of clothes for sale. There is nothing surprising in the fact that by the time of appearance in the stores, some things have become morally obsolete. In addition, some models in general find it difficult to find a buyer, and Adidas sells at a significant discount at
least 50% of the products range . By 2020, the company expects to produce half of its products at an accelerated pace, and sell at least 70% of the products for the full price. This indicator directly affects the profit rate , and therefore it makes sense to spend money on the introduction of new technologies. Related Products :
