In February this year, the head of Micron, Mark Durcan, announced his intention to resign, as he would have done so much earlier if it had not been necessary to replace the tragically dead predecessor. As a general director, Durkan worked for five years, and his total experience in the company's staff reaches three decades. Now Micron Technology has decided on a successor, according to an official press release.
Since May 8, Sanjay Mehrotra, who was at the source of SanDisk, has become the president and CEO of the company, and headed it between 2011 and 2016. He also actively contributed to the creation of a joint venture SanDisk and Toshiba for the production of solid state memory, which now, together with the assets of SanDisk, came under the control of Western Digital Corporation. Mehrotra refers to a small pleiad of leaders who have an engineering background. He is the author of more than 70 inventions, published in scientific journals and speaks at conferences. According to analysts, Mehrotra's share in the coming years will be the struggle of Micron with Chinese memory manufacturers who are ready to win 30% of the world market without looking at possible costs.
Until August of this year, Mark Durkan will continue to advise his successor, and then finally leave the company. Sanjay Mehrotra will also be on the board of Micron Technology. In the near future, experts do not expect him to drastically change the company's business development strategy.
