At the end of last week, IDC analytical agency published a new forecast for the development of the market for Augmented and Virtual Reality devices, which confirmed the long-held Internet thesis that the augmented reality devices will be more actively used in the commercial sector, and not for the entertainment of private customers. However, the latter will be added to the world of augmented reality primarily through devices that involve the use of smartphones. In the corporate segment, however,
a specially developed device for working with augmented reality will be more widely distributed.
By 2021, more than 83% of Augmented Reality devices will be used in the commercial sector. However, since it is more difficult to technically create an augmented reality than a virtual one, the corresponding devices will yield in terms of sales volumes to devices of virtual reality. Last year, no more than 163 thousand AR-devices were sold, and by 2021 their number will increase to 24.6 million units.
The market for virtual reality devices will grow at a much more modest pace, but sales volumes will be higher. If last year 9.3 million virtual reality devices were sold, then by 2021 their number will increase to 67.1 million units. The share of the commercial sector will have only 27% of purchases, the remaining devices will be purchased by private users. If we consider the period from 2016 to 2021, then the total number of virtual and augmented reality devices sold should increase almost
tenfold, to 91 million units. Related Products :
