Last week, leading analytical agencies said the PC market continues to shrink. Some large TSMC customers cut the required quantity in the production of microchips. In particular, Qualcomm, Broadcom and OmniVision mentioned among those TSMC customers , which reduced the orders volume .
TSMC in this case, not only suffers from the decline in demand for personal computers and laptops (graphics solutions from AMD and NVIDIA). The smartphone market, especially expensive ones, is beginning to show signs of saturation. Accordingly, sales of smart phones at same rate will not rise. TSMC customers proportionally reduce orders for the production of chips used in smartphones.
Note that the volumes of chips on the HPM-version of the 28-nm process technology in the third quarter, yet will grow. This kind of 28-nm TSMC gives chips for mobile phones and other portable electronic devices, as well as solutions for telecommunications equipment. TSMC's total revenue in the third quarter will grow by 10% compared to second quarter results. Still, in absolute terms, this is the second consecutive quarter, characterized by record revenues for TSMC. Results of the second quarter, the Company will discuss 18 July event.
