Russian representative office of Western Digital company spread a press release in which it announced the beginning of deliveries of a new hard disk model in the WD Purple family.  These are video surveillance systems optimized for working with the ATA streaming instruction set.  Using processing commands avoids loss of frames and improves playback.  Also, the drives of this family use components of increased reliability, because video surveillance data is recorded around the clock every day of the week. The novelty in the series was a model with a capacity of 10 terabytes, which is 25% larger in volume than the previous 8-TB flagship in the family.  The HelioSeal technology allowed to increase the capacity - it is a replacement of the air mixture in the hermetic block with magnetic plates by helium, which reduces the resistance of the medium to the rotating plates and increases the energy efficiency of the drives. The rotationspeed of the 10-TB spindle of the WD Purple model is 5400 rpm.  The size of the cache buffer is 256 MB.  The interface is SATA 6 Gbit / s.  The form factor is 3.5 inches.  The limited warranty for drives is three years.  The price  for 10 TB is $ 400.  This drive is capable of simultaneously recording video streams from 64 cameras with FullHD resolution.   Related Products :
