AMD does not plan to reject geode processors , which cover the company positions on the market for super-budget PC and built in systems.
The basic merits of geode AMD processor is their compatibility with many applications, created for x86 architecture and the small energy consumption. Based on the indicated processors it is possible to release super-cheap notebook, created by OLPC project participants . However, there are no data about AMD intention to develop the processors and platform, which includes Geode . Recently, this processor got some update.  Here is a standard size mini-ITX motherboard with AMD geode processor and the DDR2 memory module (this platform was accessible only with DDR). It is remarkable, that DDR2 memory module is installed instead of regular DDR module with the aid of special adapter and requires only a motherboard Bios update . Speed in this case corresponds to DDR, but a cost reduction is ensured, since DDR2 modules are cheaper (according to AMD estimation , savings can reach 10%) and moreover, the required power will be reduced.
