Created in cooperation with Intel memory of the type 3D XPoint, Micron has no special illusions about the pace of its expansion, and therefore does not hurry, in contrast to the partner, to offer storage devices based on this memory in the desktop segment. During the recent quarterly reporting conference, Micron representatives confirmed that by the end of the year the company will begin to receive revenues from the sale of products based on 3D XPoint, but initially customers of these products will be corporate customers.
Colleagues from the site PCWorld dared to add that Micron does not plan to independently sell the QuantX series of drives using memory such as 3D XPoint - this mission should be taken by third-party manufacturers of solid-state drives that will be able to obtain a license to carry out such activities. As in the case of Intel, memory 3D XPoint type produced by Micron will find use in memory modules.
