Prior to the Computex 2017 exhibition, there is less and less time, and very soon producers will please us with a series of presentations and announcements, some of which are highly anticipated. It is expected that Intel will introduce new processors Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X, and together with them the Intel X299 platform. This in turn means that motherboard manufacturers will present their products based on this chipset.
MSI has already published an advertising image of some new motherboard, which it calls no other than the best motherboard ever built. Directly the manufacturer does not say that this novelty will be based on the Intel X299 chipset, but it clearly refers to boards for high-performance desktop segments (HEDT), so this assumption has the right to exist. On the other hand, it could be a motherboard for AMD X399 for the upcoming 12- / 16-core Ryzen processors, but this is less likely.
This board will receive four PCI Express x16 slots, each of which will be reinforced with metal plates, and one PCI Express x1 slot. There are also three M.2 slots, equipped with metal plates for removing heat from solid state drives. This configuration of the expansion slots and indicates the belonging to the segment of high-performance systems, because the platforms of the Intel Z270 and AMD X370 do not have enough PCIe lines.
