Samsung electronics company announced the new series of magnetic hard disks spinPoint s166. Those new hard drive with volume 80 and 160 Gb, made in the form factor 3,5 inches, already dispatch to customers and will appear in sale throughout the world during April.
In the new series spinPoint S are used the improved versions of technologies silentSeek and NoiseGuard, developed by samsung specialists , which, as it is asserted, allow to increase the operating speed and decrease the noise level. The test results , according to the data of company, show that comparable products from other producers make noise at the level 28 dB in the mode standby and 32 dB in search mode, while Samsung s166 has only 24 and 27,5 dB. Producer came to the conclusion: that the new hdd are suitable for office and Home pc.  The operation high speed and reliability is referred as the additional merits of those disks. Samsung s166 are equipped with 8 mb buffer . The rotation frequency is equal to 7200 rp/min , they use the interface SATA (3,0 Gbit/s) with native command queuing (NCQ)support .
