We already wrote about the motherboard MSI x38 diamond, based on intel x38. According to the first impression, this motherboard had all chances to obtain the title of the most advanced solution on new Intel chipset . This product will allow the use of both DDR2 and DDR3 memory, and also propose four slots PCI express 16 for video card installation .

Last models MSI x38 diamond are deprived from DDR2 SDRAM slots .

MSI representatives stated, that the realization of universal memory controller in intel x38 perceptibly decreases the performance. Therefore, MSI decided to remove DDR2 SDRAM support from x38 diamond .

The motherboard still have great interest due to the presence of four slots PCI express x16. Moreover, the first two slots (white color) work in the half regime, while yellow slots are connected to the system bus PCI express x4 and correspond only to the specification PCI express 1.1. For their connection on MSI x38 diamond adapts special switch for IDT company production . Specifically, this mysterious chip is hidden on the motherboard under the radiator next to the south bridge.

For the heat removal Msi used a cooling system with thermal tubes circu-Pipe. According to given tests, under load it provides the best effectiveness, better than cooling system in ASUS P5K3.

Together with the favorable temperature conditions, the high reliability of motherboard is ensured by four-channel processor power stabilizer , in composition of which are used solid-state Japanese capacitors .

MSI x38 diamond will support additional dividers FSB:DRAM, it will be capable without problems to work with DDR3 SDRAM, whose frequency reaches 1775 MHz. In the composition of this motherboard we have realtek ALC888T witch will allow to connect traditional telephone sets, which can be used in Skype. In addition This motherboard will realize automatic RAID 1, which does not require configuration and drivers installation .
